Feline Idiopathic Cystitis Study
OpenFICUSS Study
Study Goals: FICUSS Study looks to improve understanding of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. The collected samples will be used to help better understand the underlying pathophysiology of this disease, which can then be used to aid in the development of novel diagnostic tests and targeted therapies for this condition.
Eligibility criteria:
Male cats greater than or equal to 2kgs, and greater than or equal to 1 year old of age who are:
- Healthy cats with no previous history of FIC/UO
- Cats with active FIC and a concurrent UO
- Cats with FIC without a concurrent UO
- Cats with a history of FIC who are currently asymptomatic
- Cats with urolitiasis
What to expect:
This is a simple sample collection only study. Cats will undergo an exam and diagnostic testing (CBC, biochemistry, urinalysis, urine culture, abdominal ultrasound, radiographs) collecting whole blood, serum, plasma, urine, feces, and cheek swab samples.
Benefits of Participation:
If eligibility is met, their samples will be collected. Cats enrolled into the study will have all required diagnostics covered by the study including exam fee (~$2500).
