Dr. Sam Stewart is originally from the Hudson Valley region of upstate New York. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Binghamton University in New York. He then attended veterinary school in the Caribbean at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, finishing his degree in 2013.
Dr. Stewart completed a small animal rotating surgical and medical internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ in 2014. He joined the Emergency and Critical Care team at the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn, MA in July 2014 as a resident. He completed his residency and was accepted as a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2017. He then joined the Boston West Veterinary Emergency and Specialty team in July 2017 as a Critical Care specialist. At the same time he also joined Ethos Science, helping to design, implement, and manage clinical trials being conducted throughout Ethos. This led to the him starting a Commercialization Scientist Fellowship with Ethos, which began in January 2019 and concluded in July 2022. Following his fellowship, Dr. Stewart assumed the role of Director of Science Consultancy, overseeing all aspects of science within Ethos.
His areas of interest include improved means to diagnose and treat sepsis as well as novel modes of pain management in dogs and cats, such as the use of cannabidiol. He is always looking for new and exciting research opportunities to help further the knowledge and capabilities of veterinary medicine. Dr. Stewart recently relocated to London, England, however he has continued to work for Ethos Science remotely, managing many of Ethos’s clinical trials from across the pond. When not in the hospital Dr. Stewart is an avid gardener, growing more than 50 different species of fruit and vegetables.
